Nike+ Post (7/30/07)

We have reached the two per team minimum, so I will be sending out the preseason invites this weekend. Be sure to get your vote in on the blog.

If you have requested a team and don't see your name on the team roster under the post entitled "Team ROSTERS", please send me a PM (private message).

Thanks and get ready to run!

Nike+ Post (7/21/07)

We almost have the minimum of two per team, so I should be sending out the invites for week 1 very soon.

Also, check the blog... at the bottom there is a poll about whether or not to have some kind of preseason challenge.

Gallery Invite!

IMPORTANT!!!

If you have arrived here from looking at the public invite in the gallery... after you join the challenge you need to go to the trash talk section to leave the name of the team you'd like to run for.

After you do that, I will add your Nike+ ID to that team's list and remove your name from the challenge you joined in the gallery (which I am only using for sign-ups). You will receive a new invite when I send out official ones in the next couple of weeks.

Also, if you have signed up through the forum, do not add yourself to the public invite... I've already got you on the list!

If you have any questions private message me in the forum or send me a email from here. I apologize for the confusion... good luck!

Nike+ Post (7/20/07)

We had a recent surge of sign-ups... GREAT!!! Once we have at least two members per team I will send out the invites. If we get enough people I may create some sort of preseason challenge to give everyone an idea what your competition will be like.

Thanks to everyone above who has joined!

Nike+ Post (7/14/07)

Hey everyone. I've got everyone above added to the list under the team they requested. I have sent some of you private messages, so be sure to check your forum inbox.

Sign up has slowed down a bit, but we've still got a lot of time. It seems there are no Houston, Seattle, or St. Louis fans out there!!! What's up with that?

Good luck and HaPPY RuNNiNG!!!

Nike+ Post (7/9/07)

Hey everybody! Thanks for signing up for the challenge! Thanks Cyberswami, for your post.

Let me clear up some of the confusion... Once I have at least 2 people signed up for each team, I will send out the invites. But keep in mind, the challenge doesn't start until the regular football season starts. So the Week 1 challenge will run from September 3 to September 8.

If 20 people sign up for each team, that will be a total of 640 runners. I will be creating a separate challenge for each of the NFL Divisions (I will post a list of those divisions below).

If you have requested to join, don't worry I have put your name into a spreadsheet and that is where I will keep track of team rosters, mileage, standings, etc.

Some of you have asked why I'm not counting Sundays. A couple of concerns were people having marathons or long runs on those days and them not being counted. I think it will help to level the playing field for those with less running experience and besides, you should all be at home watching football on Sundays

Also, it will give me a chance on Sundays (after the last televised NFL game is over, of course) to calculate totals and send out the next weeks invites which, with 640 runners, is sure to be a challenge in itself.

And last, to you presumptuous Football fans, I'm not a guy!!!.....Keep the sign-ups coming!!!................and HaPPY RuNNiNG!!!

The Challenge

Are you ready for some football.........?

Here is a competitive challenge for all you football fans out there, a chance for you to take your favorite NFL team all the way - even if your team doesn’t actually make it to the Superbowl, they still have a chance to win the Nike+ NFL Fan Runnerbowl!!!

TEAMS

  • There will be 20 runners admitted to each of the 32 NFL teams which are listed in the following post.
  • If the limit for the team has been reached, you can request to be put on the wait list in case a runner decides to withdraw.

SCHEDULE

SCORING

  • The team who has the highest team average of miles for that week (which will be your final ‘score’) wins that match-up.
  • In case of a tie, the winner will be determined by the top individual runner of each team. Whichever one the greater distance adds an extra point to their final score and wins it for their team.
  • Each running week starts Monday and goes through Saturday. (This gives me a chance on Sundays to calculate the scores and post them the following morning.)

WEEKLY RESULTS and STANDINGS

  • Every Monday morning, I will post the results for the previous week and the overall standings. (Please note that I live in the Pacific Standard time zone)
I will post these results here and on the Nike+ forum in a different post entitled " Nike+ Runnerbowl Updates"

PLAYOFFS

  • Once the regular NFL season ends we will have our own playoffs (which will consist of three weeks of match-ups) based on the rankings of the top 16 teams, 8 from each conference (AFC and NFC). **See the following post if you are unsure what conference you fall under.
  • Once we have a winner from each conference from the playoffs, we will have our...

1st Annual Nike+ NFL FAN Runnerbowl!!!
