The Playoff Picture
I want the playoffs to be about the teams that did the best in this challenge. So for that reason I will use the top 4 teams from each conference (regardless of division) for the playoff spots plus an additional 2 teams from each conference as wildcard spots.
For any ties in standings at the end of the season I will use whoever has the higher PF (points for) throughout the season. In the event of a tie for PF, I will go to PA (points against) and whichever team has less points against them will rank higher.
**********
Playoffs will last 3 weeks and WILL include Sundays. (REMEMBER: Playoffs are played within your own conference)...
Week 1: December 30th - January 5th
Week 2: January 6th - January 12th
Week 3: January 13th - January 19th
OFF WEEK : January 20th - January 26th
NFL Runnerbowl : January 27th - February 2nd
In Week One of the Playoffs the schedule for each conference will be as follows...
*Teams ranked as #1 and #2 for each conference will have a bye week.
*Team ranked #3 will play against Team ranked #6(wildcard) AND Team ranked #4 will play against Team ranked #5(wildcard)
In Week Two of the Playoffs the schedule for each conference will be as follows...
*Team ranked #1 for each conference will play the lower ranked team that won in Week 1 of their conference's Playoffs.
*Team ranked #2 for each conference will play the other team that won in Week 1 of their conference's Playoffs.
In Week Three of the Playoffs...
*The winning team from each game in Week 2 of their conference's Playoffs will play against each other to determine who will make it to the NFL Runnerbowl
********** I hope that makes sense to everyone. If you have any questions or see any mistakes, please post here and we can straighten things out.

It was a great week! Many players stepped up their mileage, although we lost a few runners and several were on injured reserve.
TobyTyke's season-long Game MVP streak has come to an end. He was ousted from his usual #1 spot by staffelm of the Green Bay Packers. However TobyTyke just reached a new milestone in Week 13... 5000 miles!!! That's gotta feel good!

NEW RULE
Beginning with Week 5...
Non-acceptance of a weekly match-up will be the same as logging 0 miles!
*Example 1: A runner logged 23 miles in Week 4, then does not accept the Week 5 challenge. She will be logged as having 0 miles and it will count against her team's average.
**Example 2: A runner logs 23 miles in Week 3, then 0 miles in Week 4 . He is placed on the bench for Week 5. However, he does not accept the Week 5 challenge. He will be logged as having 0 miles again. He will be on the bench again for Week 6, to be dropped unless he posts miles that week.
**************
Updated 0 MILEAGE REGULATION:
1st week with no miles logged/non-acceptance of challenge: the runner will be included in their team's average
2nd consecutive week with no miles logged/non-acceptance of challenge: the runner will be 'benched' and they won't be included in their team's average.
3rd consecutive week with no miles logged/non-acceptance of challenge: the runner will be suspended and removed from the NFL!
---SCORING Rules---
FOR PRESEASON:
Each Monday during preseason I will post the current standings for the teams in each Conference. The Final Preseason Standings will be calculated from the entire 4 weeks of preseason and will be posted on Monday, Septemper 3rd.
The ranking is determined by the average mileage of each team. I take the total miles run by each team and divide that by the number of runner's on the team who have accepted the preseason challenge.
If you have a teammate who has logged 0 miles it negatively affects your average. That is why I encourage everyone to use trash talk and the "NFL Runnerbowl Forum" in the forums to push your teammates. Anyone who hasn't logged any miles by the end of preseason will be dropped from the challenge.
I chose to create a team challenge for preseason to let everyone see who is on their team and to see what kind of mileage they are putting up.
FOR REGULAR SEASON:
Each of the 17 weeks you will need to accept a different challenge (except for your bye week). They will be individual most miles challenges where you and your teammates will be running against another team. This will follow the actual 2007 NFL schedule. This is why it will benefit you to know who is on your team. (See the "Team Rosters" post on this blog.) The runner with the most miles in each match-up will be considered game MVP and of course, win that trophy.
The scoring will be the same... it will be each team's average mileage based on those who have accepted the weekly match-up. However in regular season, each team's average will be their final game score for each match-up.
(Example: In Week One New Orleans is playing Indianapolis. Let's say that New Orleans average mileage when the challenge closes is 27 miles and Indianapolis' average mileage is 17 miles... the final score of the game would be New Orleans- 27 and Indy-17 . New Orleans record would be (1-0) one win, zero losses and Indy's record would be (0-1) zero wins, one loss at the end of Week One play.
A major difference during regular season is regarding a teammate putting up no mileage in consecutive weeks...
1st week with no miles logged: the runner will be included in their team's average
2nd consecutive week with no miles logged: the runner will be 'benched' and they won't be included in their team's average.
3rd consecutive week with no miles logged: the runner will be suspended and removed from the NFL!
***Also note that if a player wishes to be placed on the INJURY LIST they must let me know BEFORE the match-up begins, either in the forum or by PM. Otherwise, not accepting a weekly challenge will be the same as logging 0 miles!
I encourage everyone to use 'trash talk' in the challenges and the "NFL Runnerbowl Forum" I have started in the Nikeplus forums to motivate and push each other, as well as talk smack to the other teams. I want this to be a fun challenge that encourages participation.
